Candlelit Yin Restorative
Complete with essential oils, light touch Thai massage, relaxing music, and, of course, candlelight. This class will relax the mind, body, and soul.Yin Yoga focuses on the connective tissues of the body through postures that are held in stillness and mindful awareness for several minutes at a time. A perfect complement to more yang styles of exercise (such as flow yoga, running, skiing or biking), Yin Yoga addresses tightness and toxin buildup in the joints and connective tissue through poses that are equally challenging for the mind and body. The result is not only more lubricated and flexible joints, but also a greater sense of balance, peace, and calm. Props make the practice accessible to people of all abilities. This is an all levels class, appropriate for beginners and advanced alike.
This class is held at a slower pace, suitable for beginners, those with limitations, and experienced students. This All Levels Mat Class is a movement re-education program designed to work every muscle in the body in an efficient, focused manner. Breath techniques (pranayama) will be included to help athletes learn to remain focused and present during their workouts, which is especially useful in endurance events. Vin + Yin
Vinyasa flow styles of yoga target the muscles, cardio vascular system, and generally employ rhythmic repetitive movements to stress the fibres and cells of the muscles. Being elastic and moist, the muscles appreciate this form of exercise. Whereas Yin yoga is a centring, quiet practice and focuses on the body's connective tissue. Both forms practiced together are a perfect blend.
This class will begin with a warming and heart-opening yang practice allowing prana or energy to begin flowing in the body. The second half of the class will focus on yin poses held longer to stretch the connective tissues helping us to relax into the deepest layers of the body. You will be sure to leave feeling calm, peaceful and balanced after this healing practice.
Vinyasa is a unique style of yoga where postures are linked together in a continuous, challenging and creative flow that combines strength and flexibility while toning the body and clearing the mind. Students are encouraged to move at their own pace with intention and to listen to their body as they explore their own edge and discover inner strength.
