Most know Pilates instructor Julie Lord as Dr Julie Lord , the local chiropractor! Dr. Lord graduated from life university in atlanta. Julie brings her therapeutic touch to the mat with focusing on making classes healing and balancing for the body . With an undergrad in psychology from Campbell University in North Carolina, she likes to add a zen touch , ending each class in a short relaxation / meditation moment . This also makes her Pilates practice unique .
Julie credits her style to her first Pilates teacher and mentor Cathy Jackson in Athens, Georgia who was trained by one of the first certified classes by the PhysicalMind institute. Dr Lord is certified through SCW certification programs. Julie Pilates teaching career started in Athens Georgia for the UGA Ramsey center and at Sangha yoga studio in Athens.
Julie resides with husband Shane, teenage son Koby, and toddler daughter Skyler in Serenbe.
Renee started her yoga journey at age 40. She never had a regular exercise regime until she found yoga. After one class she was hooked. She started for the physical benefits but has continued for the calm yoga brings her life. Renee’s current practice is Power Flow, Yin, and Ashtanga. She has a light-hearted and playful approach to her teaching so all students will feel comfortable in her classes. She uses an intelligent sequence to create strength, flexibility, and a calm mind. Renee obtained her RYT® 200 certification in 2016 from Grow Yoga School in Memphis, TN. When she is not teaching or practicing yoga, you can find Renee in the woods or on the water with her husband, two boys, and two dogs.
After leaving a high stress career that left her sick and tired, Heather made her way to teaching yoga. Her journey to yoga began as a way to manage stress and gain physical strength. She received her Thai Yoga Therapist certification and 200 RYT in Costa Rica. Heather specializes in Restorative Yoga, and incorporates elements of Thai Yoga into the classes she teaches. She is also a certified Aerial Yoga Teacher, and will be teaching Restorative Aerial Yoga. As the proud Mom to 5 Nigerian Goat "kids" (in addition to 22 year old daughter, Madison), most weekends Heather can be found teaching Goat Yoga at The Animal Village at Serenbe. Heather's classes are light hearted and meditative in nature.
Alison's teaching style is physically challenging, directive, informative, and often times playful. In all of her classes, Alison offers challenging poses with informative steps and prep. She enjoys teaching all levels and loves watching people achieve their Yoga goals.In addition to her 200 RYT, Alison is also a certified Aerial Yoga teacher. Alison is a wife and mother of four. A former division I college basketball player that came to Yoga after the birth of her second child.
Rita Ritchie completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training certification in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in Columbus, Ohio during 2008. She received her 500 hour certification in Advanced Yoga Studies in Asheville, NC in 2013.
Since many of my students are older, I find it very gratifying to help them overcome issues associated with aging. I get excited when a student in their 80's tells me that yoga has changed their life.
Christine began teaching yoga in 2011 after receiving her instructor’s certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. She is a 200 E-RYT teacher and is certified in 24 forms Tai Chi Chuan + Qi Gong. She teaches weekly classes in Atlanta studios and leads corporate and public classes in Downtown Atlanta. Her teaching career includes a variety of workshops for athletes, woman's groups, college students and entrepreneurs and has been a lead instructor 2oohr yoga teacher trainings. According to some of her most dedicated students, it is a combination of her thoroughness, her ability to meet students at any level of experience, and her easily approachable manner that makes her such a great teacher. Her flows are fun and dynamic and her classes are challenging and exhilarating for beginners and advanced yogis alike. She emphasizes both spiritual and physical aspects of yoga, taking care to explain the origin and meaning of each pose while maintaining a healthy, stimulating pace. Christine teaches Hot Vinyasa, Power, Restorative and more recently Goat Yoga at Serenbe.
